A few favourite spots for relaxed, nature-inspired wedding photos

Western Australia is one of the most beautiful places in the country to get married. Within an hour or two of the city you can have vineyards, old trees, rugged coastline and golden light that goes on forever. If you're planning a Perth wedding and wondering where to take your portraits, here are a few spots worth considering.

Kings Park

Right in the middle of the city, Kings Park has towering gums, bushland paths and views across the river. It's an easy option if your ceremony or reception is nearby, and it feels a world away from the city streets. Some areas may need a permit or booking, so it's worth checking before the day.

The Swan Valley

Rows of vines, rustic sheds and wide open skies make the Swan Valley a favourite for couples who want something relaxed and a little romantic. Late afternoon light through the vineyards is hard to beat.

Fremantle

If you love a mix of character and coastline, Fremantle gives you heritage streets, laneways and the ocean all in one place. It's perfect for couples who want a bit of personality in their photos.

Rottnest Island

Turquoise water, white sand and quiet bays make Rottnest a dream for small weddings and elopements. It takes a little more planning to get there, and permits may apply, but the results are worth it.

The Perth Hills

For something green and earthy, the Perth Hills have forest trails, rocky outcrops and big views back towards the city. They're great for couples who want their photos to feel wild and natural.

Margaret River and the South West

A few hours south, Margaret River offers wineries, tall forests and dramatic coastline. It's ideal for a destination style wedding without leaving WA.

A few tips for great photos

Plan your portraits around golden hour, the hour before sunset, for soft and flattering light. Build in a little extra time for travel between locations. And most of all, choose places that mean something to you both, because that's what makes your photos feel like yours.
